Wichita Case Plant to Close Temporarily

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A heavy equipment maker has announced another temporary shutdown of its Wichita plant.

Spokesman Ralph Traviati says the Case New Holland plant will close for three or four weeks, starting toward the end of March and extending into April.

Traviati, who is based in Burr Ridge, Ill., says the goal of the shutdown is to "bring production into line with demand.''

The plant employs about 550 people. The company previously shut down for all of December and part of January. Usually, it shuts down for one week in December.

The Wichita plant makes skid steers.
