Senator Pat Roberts is applauding the Kansas Senate for opposing Guantanamo Bay terrorists being moved to Fort Leavenworth. Senators Monday unanimously approved a resolution opposing the move. State reps have a similar measure on their agenda Tuesday.
In a statement released Monday, Senator Roberts said that under Senate President Steve Morris' leadership, the state has sent a message to Washington that Fort Leavenworth is not a suitable, cost-effective or secure location for detainees from Gitmo.
