Almost every young adult has a Facebook or MySpace account. It is fair to say a good portion of them even have their accounts connected to their cell phones. It did not take long for Georgianna Wong to catch onto this and find a way to use it to the advantage of her non-profit organization.
The Youth Project holds classes to help young adults become job-ready and learn important life skills. Until now, Wong had spent her days traveling to High Schools in hopes students would stop by and sign up for her classes. Now she spends more and more time answering e-mails from students who found the Topeka Youth Project's - Jobs for Young Adults Program on Facebook.
"All of the kids are doing Facebook. So, it was kind of like this would be a good medium to hit. It would be quick, easy, and something that could stay up for awhile," said Wong.
Wong hopes their March class will be completely filled up by users on Facebook and she says the sign-ups have already started.
