Water Hardness Above Average in Topeka

If you've noticed your water at home seems harder than usual, that's because it is. Topeka city spokesperson Dave Bevens said Thursday many customers have been complaining about it.

Signs include water spots on glasses and dishes, chalky deposits on faucets, tubs, and sinks, and an increase in soap scum buildup on bathtubs and showers.

Topeka water officials say it is normal for this time of year and they do expect it to become softer as the river's water levels rise. They say it is safe to drink and use for household chores.
