A Jefferson County Commissioner resigned Thursday with no notice and no reason given, leaving only an extremely brief letter of resignation.
Donald Edmonds is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The Oskaloosa Independent newspaper reported Edmonds is being investigated in connection with what was originally reported as theft of money at a McLouth BP gas station, where Edmonds was manager before he was fired.
Haag Oil told 13 News money it first believed was missing had actually been deposited in a bank. However, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig says he is investigating the original complaint to see if Haag Oil's money was deposited before, or after, the theft was reported to the sheriff's department.
Herrig said he wants to get to the bottom of this. He said Edmonds is not being investigated for anything other than the BP missing money report.
13 News tried to reach Edmonds, but he did not answer or return our calls. A message was left on his voicemail. Employees at BP would not comment.
Sheriff Herrig is asking for your help in the investigation. If you have any information, please call 785-863-2351.
