(Topeka, KS)--A & J's Soul Food did not serve black customers decades ago. On Tuesday night, the black owners hosted a party to celebrate the first black president.
The Elrods served up the soul food for free, along with their President Barack Obama posters hanging on the wall.
The historical significance was not lost on them, and it was not lost on the customers who came in to enjoy the food -- and one another's company.
