Colleagues confirmed Monday the victim is 51-year-old Arthur
DeLisle, of Everett, Washington.
The chief of the Edmonds Fire Department in Washington said DeLisle died Friday while climbing the highest peak in the Americas at 22,841-feet.
DeLisle was a firefighter, paramedic and former member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He is originally from Kansas and leaves behind a wife and stepson.
Argentine officials say DeLisle was hiking alone when he was hit by falling rock and died of a head injury and a collapsed lung an hour later.
