A ceremony at Topeka's federal building Friday welcomed 44 people from 24 countries as new U.S. citizens.
U.S. District Court Judge Sam Crow presided over the event. Topekan Ric Barron sang the National Anthem before the group raised their hands and took the oath of allegiance to the U.S.
Aconday Castico from Tanzania is among the new citizens. He says the day held a lot of emotion for him. Esther Henson of Mexico agreed. She says America is about achieving hopes and dreams.
