Some 4000 lucky students got to take a break from classes and listen to great music.

The Topeka Symphony invited students from all over Northeast Kansas to the Topeka Performing Arts Center for a free concert Thursday.

Composer Michael Abels narrated the famed "Lincoln Portrait" work from Aaron Copeland.

Concerts are provided by grants and contributions of local businesses and individuals. The Symphony has been giving the "Free School Day" concerts since 1999.
