Republican Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh reports raising about $107,000 last year for his campaign for governor. Thornburgh began raising money in 2007 to run for governor in 2010.
A campaign finance report filed yesterday shows Thornburgh began
2008 with about $106,000 in his campaign fund and raised about
$107,000 more during the year. He also spent almost $72,000 and
ended the year with about $141,000.
U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback formed a campaign committee last week
for the GOP nomination for governor. Brownback did not have to file
a finance report for 2008. Democratic Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is prevented by term limits from seeking a third term.
