Topeka Police Seeking Past Citizens’ Academy Graduates

TOPEKA, Kan. - Are you a graduate of the Topeka Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy? If so you are invited to participate in a new endeavor designed to re-connect graduates with the Department and to become involved with projects that enhance our community’s safety and promote crime prevention awareness.

Since the graduates of the academies represent a vivid picture of diversity, professions, ages, interests, and abilities, there are unlimited opportunities to have a positive impact on the Topeka Police Department’s community policing initiatives. Participants will also have the opportunity to support the current and future academies by serving as mentors and recruiters; to sponsor the acquisition of needed equipment and resources; and to assist with Departmental appreciation and recognition events.

Help begin a new era of citizen involvement with the Topeka Police Department. No advanced preparation is necessary and there is no cost to be part of this coalition of Academy graduates.

To let the Department know whether or not you are interested in participating, and to receive the details about the first meeting date and location, contact Ben Clay, Community and Support Services Division, 368-9237, or email bclay@topeka.org.
