A Topeka man was sentenced Wednesday for the killing of a retired jeweler. Allen Dale Smith, 37, was found guilty of first degree murder and aggravated battery.

Smith and another man were accused of killing Clarence David Boose in his home. Prosecutors claim Smith fired the fatal shot when the seventy-seven year old Boose interrupted the burglary.

Boose had owned David's Jewelry in Topeka. Smith's cousin pleaded guilty to murder in 2007 for his role in the botched burglary.

Smith was sentenced today to life in prison for the murder, and eleven additional years for the aggravated burglary conviction.
