The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation is helping 19 housing developments provide affordable housing throughout Kansas. The agency has awarded over $71 million in federal Housing Tax Credits to help fund the apartments.
The money will go toward a total of 558 units, 553 of which are restricted units. The remaining five will be offered at market rates.
Of the 558 total units, 340 of them have been marked for families, while seniors will get 188 of them. 30 Units will be set aside tat will assist people with disabilities.
The development projects will be spread through 13 cities in Kansas.
"These awards help provide attractive, high quality housing at an affordable rect," according to Fred Bentley, KHRC Rental Housing Division Director. "The added bonus of these awards will be a boost to the economy, creating additional construction jobs and increasing state and local tax revenue."
