(Topeka, KS)--More than 15 Topeka Police and Kansas Highway Patrol vehicles were called to reports of shots fired, as well as an officer-in-distress call Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a black male may have fired shots at a vehicle heading westbound on 45th Street. When the first officer arrived on scene, that officer was told the suspect went into a house. Outnumbered by upset residents, the officer called for backup.

Two people from the house were being talked to, but released. No one is currently in police custody. A handgun was removed from the house as police try to determine if it was used in the incident.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Police dogs were on the scene to help aid the investigation. Police will release a more detailed suspect description when it is available. If you have any information you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
