TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A utility's former chief executive officer will lead the search for a new chancellor at the University of Kansas.
The state Board of Regents said Tuesday that it appointed Drue Jennings, of Prairie Village, as chairman of a search committee.
Chancellor Robert Hemenway announced earlier this month that he plans to step down June 30 to write a book and return to teaching.
Jennings was chief executive officer at Kansas City Power & Light for 14 years, retiring in 2001.
He also served as the University of Kansas' interim athletic director in 2003 and led searches that resulted in the hiring of Lew Perkins as athletic director and Bill Self as men's basketball coach.
