Pet Spa & Resort Celebrates Opening

Pets in northeast Kansas have a new place to put their paws up and relax.

Homestead Pet Spa & Resort opened its doors December 15th. The business is located east of Holton.

The cage-free kennel offers services such as door-to-door transportation, grooming, spa treatments, extended stay, and one-on-one playtime.

Large indoor kennels offer areas for dogs of similar age and size to play.

Lynne Henke, resort director, says the kennels all have heated floors and 24 hour supervision.

Henke says that, in addition to outdoor play areas, a swimming facility is scheduled to be added in the spring. When service becomes available, web cameras are planned so owners can view their pets on the web.

Felines were not left out of the plans. A hayloft is being converted into a multi-level indoor playground for cats.

Special needs individuals will frequently visit the facility to help provide care and keep the animals company.
