Holiday travelers will be hitting the road over the next week to see family members, friends -- all for fun. But the weather can occasionally have other plans. 13 News gathered some of the best travel tips for you in case you find yourself driving in poor conditions.
Have an emergency kit handy in case you end up in a situation where you are stuck in your cold car -- without power. Bring a blanket, candle, matches and bottles of water.
When driving, be sure to maintain a safe following distance. If the vehicle in front of you spins out of control, or has to stop quickly, you want to be sure you will be able to avoid an accident.
Charge your cell phone before the trip. Make sure people know where you are going, when you leave and what time you should arrive. Also, check road and weather conditions before leaving.
Be sure to have a safe holiday season!
