A deadly accident tied up traffic for hours in Manhattan Wednesday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol says it happened just before 7:00 a.m. on K-18 in the 4000 block of Fort Riley Blvd.

Police say Michael Cornett, 30, was headed eastbound when he crossed the median and struck another car. He died at the scene. The driver of the other car was flown to KU Medical Center.

The accident closed the road. It took more than three hours before emergency crews could clear the scene. No word if slick roads contributed to this accident.
