Slick Roads Lead to Busy Day of Wrecks

The snow's arrival made for some slick spots on area roads.

Topeka Police say they handled three injury accidents between 7 am and 2pm Tuesday, along with six fender benders and one hit and run. They also took more than a dozen calls of vehicles causing traffic disruptions, things like spinning off into the ditch.

With so many traffic tieups, TPD moved to Phase III response. For accidents with no injuries, where the vehicles can be moved, drivers should exchange information, and file a report as soon as they can.

The season's first snowfall is also snarling traffic in the Wichita area.

WIBW sister-station KAKE-TV reports Sedgwick County authorities had responded to more than a hundred weather-related accidents before noon Tuesday. The emergency accident reporting plan is in effect in Wichita as well.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for 18 counties in central and south-central Kansas until 6 pm.
