OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ A northeast Kansas woman faces drunken driving charges after crashing her car into a house while taking her four children to school.
Thirty-one-year-old Lynette Marie Rios was taken into custody after the crash at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Johnson County city of Overland Park. No one was seriously injured, and police took the children to school. They range in age from 5 to 12.
Besides the DUI charge, Rios also faces charges of driving with a suspended license, no booster seats and a car equipment violation.
Rios told police her brakes stopped working. She said she swerved into the house to avoid hitting a car stopped at a stop sign.
A police report said Rios appeared drunk at the scene.
