WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A federal judge orders the U.S. attorney's office to ``fully investigate'' a jailed Kansas nurse's allegations of unfair and cruel treatment at the Butler County jail.

U.S. District Judge Monti Belot issued the ruling Monday in response to an emergency motion to intervene filed by attorneys for Linda Schneider.

Schneider claims she was put in solitary confinement for 14 days for possessing a hair tie. The tie had allegedly been given to her by the facility's nurse to keep her hair off her neck where she had an infection from a possible centipede bite.

The Haysville nurse has been imprisoned without bond since her arrest nearly a year ago. She faces a February trial on charges she and her physician-husband operated a so-called pill mill in Haysville.

Belot ordered that both sides present evidence at a 2 p.m. hearing next Monday.
