Many shoppers at West Ridge Mall Friday said the economy has had an affect on they're holiday shopping budget. "I'm just watching how I spend it and making sure I get the good bargains," said Anita Thomas.
Good bargains are how stores plan to encourage shoppers this Black Friday to spend money on deals now, before the economy gets worse.
"Actually, we're hoping for higher numbers," said Johnny Carino's General Manager, Shon Spader. Spader said the restaurant's numbers for November were actually up from last year.
We may not know until after the holiday season whether the economy put a huge dent in holiday spending, but for now consumers seem to be getting into the spending spirit, while keeping a close eye on how much may be too much.
"It's Christmas but at the same time, we've got to be aware of what's going on with the economy," said Black Friday shopper, Adam McNabb. "You do a little bit more selection as far as where you're going to shop and what you're going buy."
