The Attorney General's Office is offering some tips on how to avoid scammers during the holidays. They are advising people to always be aware, be smart, and follow your instincts.
They are also warning about the latest scam, fake charity organizations. The office says at this time of the year they get a number of complaints about charities that are soliciting funds, but aren't a legitimate charity. They are encouraging everyone to check out a charity before they decide to contribute.
You can do that by going to the website kscharitycheck.org, or by calling your Secretary of States office to see if a charity is registered.
