WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A lawyer for former Attorney General Paul Morrison is dismissing as ``absurd'' a claim that a woman having an extramarital affair with Morrison influenced him to file charges against Dr. George Tiller.
The claim has been made in court by the abortion provider's attorneys. Tiller faces 19 misdemeanor charges in Sedgwick County District Court accusing him of failing to obtain a second opinion from an independent physician for some late-term abortions as required by Kansas law.
Morrison filed the charges last year but was forced to resign in January because of the affair. His successor, Steve Six, is pursuing the case.
Told of the claim from Tiller's attorneys, Morrison attorney Trey Pettlon said, ``That is an aburd allegation.''
