DENVER (AP) _ A federal appeals court has upheld the convictions
of a Kansas couple for defrauding and abusing mentally ill residents in a group home. The panel in Denver also ordered the trial court to decide if the wife's prison sentence should be longer.
The Kaufmans were convicted in November 2006 on dozens of counts
including forced labor and holding clients in involuntary servitude
at their group home in Newton.
