LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ A teenager has pleaded guilty to felony second-degree murder in the June 7 shooting that left two men dead during a botched home robbery in Lawrence.
The Lawrence Journal-World reported that Kellam Jones entered the plea Thursday after agreeing with Douglas County prosecutors that he will be sentenced to 13 years and five months in prison. Jones also pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated burglary.
Sentencing is set for Dec. 19.
Authorities said Jones and 18-year-old George Hauk went to the home of 20-year-old Roland Klundt to commit a robbery. Prosecutors said Klundt shot Hauk, and Jones then fired several rounds into Klundt.
Jones was originally charged with two counts of felony first-degree murder.
