Harrah's May Have to Drop Out of Sumner Co. Casino

The economy could have the odds stacked against Harrah's plans for a casino in Sumner County. Harrah's won the battle to manage the state-owned facility.

Our sister station KAKE in Wichita reports sources saying Harrah's is having trouble getting loans and financial backing for the proposed $500 million complex along the Kansas Turnpike near Mulvane.

Mulvane's city manager says he's met with Harrah's partners, and has no indication they're backing out.

This is one of four approved state owned casinos, but you'll recall the state is considering reopening bids for the southeast region after the only applicant backed out of the deal.
