TOPEKA, Kan. - Governor Kathleen Sebelius isn't ready to float the names of any possible replacements for State Treasurer Lynn Jenkins.
At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Sebelius said she hadn't given it any thought because she didn't expect Jenkins would defeat Democratic incumbent Nancy Boyda for the state's 2nd District Congressional seat.
State law gives Sebelius, a Democrat, the power to appoint any
``suitable person'' to serve until Jenkins' four-year term expires
in January 2011.
Jenkins was elected treasurer in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. She'll take her seat in Congress in early January.
