TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Republican Lynn Jenkins has released a dozen
e-mails, but it hasn't quieted the flap over meetings she missed as
a state pension fund trustee.
Jenkins is trying to unseat Democratic Congresswoman Nancy Boyda in the 2nd District of eastern Kansas. Jenkins is a two-term state
As treasurer, she's a member of the Board of Trustees of the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System. She missed meetings in July, August and September, when the nation's financial turmoil caused system assets to lose about $1.1 billion in value.
When Democrats raised the issue, Jenkins said she had been in contact with the system by e-mail. Democrats demanded to see the
e-mails. They showed mostly contacts by the system with Jenkins.
