A group of middle schoolers learned lessons in leadership from one of Topeka's government leaders.
City Manager Norton Bonaparte, Jr. stopped by Let's Help Friday morning to talk with Shawnee Heights Middle School's student council leadership team. He explained his job as City Manager and what it takes to be a good leader.
Bonaparte's talk and their visit to Let's Help was one stop in the students' busy day doing community service around Topeka.
"We're going around to different places that help the community and working there to learn about how our community helps people that need the help," 8th grader Kellie Lawton said. "Now that we're learning it so young then we can apply it through when we get older and it'll just make us better people."
The students applied to be part of the leadership team and were chosen by their teachers.
