MINNEOLA, Kan. (AP) _ Minneola High School takes the field Friday night without one of its starting offensive guards.

Junior Michael Mazza died last weekend in a car crash in rural Ford County. He was on his way to a team activity.

Mazza's dad, Alan Mazza, will walk out for the coin toss in the game against Rolla. He'll be an honorary captain and will be wearing his 16-year-old son's ``away game'' football jersey.

Minneola will also receive the ball first, and its eight-man team will go out on the field with only seven players.

Coach Curtis Albin says the team will take a knee and give up its first play in honor of Mazza. The coach says Mazza was a ``full-throttle'' kid, whose death has affected the entire school of 100 students.
