(WIBW) -- Before the weekend, people in Tulsa, OK; Lubbock, TX; and St. Louis, MO were expected to be filling up their gas tanks for less than $3.00 per gallon.
According to Senior Petroleum Analyst at GasBuddy.com Patrick DeHaan, St. Louis consumers were seeing some stations at $2.79; while Tulsa and St. Louis were around $2.89.
"While the direction of current prices reflect what we can expect for Q4 fuel prices, it's certainly encouraging to see how many states already have stations with regular gas available for under $3," DeHaan said. "Our network of websites shows 18 states where motorists could access gasoline below $3 : MO, SC, TX, MS, OK, AR, VA, NM, LA, TN, AL, NJ, KS, GA, NE, IA, OH and IN."
He said if the supply and demand stays the same and West Texas Crude goes into the $90s, the number of states could jump to 33 by Thanksgiving.
GasBuddy tracks gasoline prices from more than 140,000 gas stations throughout the United States. GasBuddy is operated out of Chicago.
