TOPEKA, Kan. - Members of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority have planned a week full of activities to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness and Education from October 20-25. Activities range from a Yoplait yogurt eating contest, to bowling, to a football game.
"It's a really great way to support breast cancer and raise awareness in the community," said Betsy Baker, Think Pink! week coordinator for ZTA Sorority. "All of the money we raise goes directly to this cause, so we want to get both the community of Topeka and Washburn to participate and support us as we try to raise money for breast cancer."
A Yoplait yogurt eating contest was held from noon to 1p.m. Wednesday. Costs to participate and yogurt lids will be donated to support the cause.
"Bowling for Breast Cancer" will take place from 9p.m. - 11p.m. on Thursday at Gage Bowl, 4200 SW Huntoon, Topeka. Bowling is $5 per participant.
The Washburn Ichabods football game Saturday starts at 11a.m., at Yager Stadium, and is also being turned into a breast cancer event. It's the annual "Pink Out" football game to raise awareness and act as a tribute to those who are battling or who have survived the disease. Think Pink! t-shirts will be sold to wear at the game.
Think Pink! week wraps up with "Texas Roadhouse Night" from 5p.m.-8p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant, 5901 SW Huntoon. Texas Roadhouse will donate 10 percent of customers' total bill to Breast Cancer Awareness and Education if parties mention they are there to support the cause.
Breast cancer foundations are ZTA's national philanthropy.
