Highway officials will have a little help controlling traffic during bad weather this winter.

The Kansas Department of Transportation says signs and cameras are being installed along westbound I-70 to help monitor traffic when weather gets bad.

Six snow gates will also be installed west of Salina.

KDOT also says all the signs West of Salina will be operational by Thanksgiving.

Rest of the signs will be operational no later than early Spring.

The signs will also be used to warn of road closings for construction and other necessities.
