MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Alcantara family held a memorial service and a burial service for Alheli Alcantara, 18, of Topeka, who was found dead Sunday morning outside a Quality Inn in Manhattan.

The Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 18 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. Her body was buried in Topeka. Click the video to hear some of the comforting comment.

Alheli's mother and older sister are both students at Kansas State University and in an effort to support them in this time of unexpected need, a fund has been set up to help with funeral and other associated expenses. After those are covered (roughly $12,000), the family plans to convert the fund into a scholarship for students who work with victims of violence, studying criminal law/investigation.

The Alheli Alcantara Memorial Fund has been set up at Commerce Bank.
