LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ Republican challenger Nick Jordan intensifies his attacks on Democratic Congressman Dennis Moore over the nation's financial turmoil.
Jordan contends Moore, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, had a key role in causing that turmoil. Moore is seeking his fifth term in the 3rd District, in the Kansas City area.
Moore said, ``Nick Jordan has a lot of fantasies.''
Jordan had a news conference Thursday about an amendment Moore co-sponsored in 2007 to a bill dealing with troubled mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Jordan said it reduced regulation, and a Jordan spokesman called it a "smoking gun.''
Moore responded that Jordan didn't understand or was misrepresenting the amendment.
