Candidates in the Shawnee County District Attorney race tried to win over business people Tuesday.
Republican Eric Rucker and Democrat Chad Taylor participated in a debate at the Topeka's Blind Tiger Restaurant organized by the Topeka Independent Business Association.
The candidates answered questions about a number of issues, including prosecutorial misconduct and the relationship between the district attorney and police. They also talked about which crimes most impact businesses, with both mentioning concern over property crime.
Rucker continued his message of experience, saying he has a record of prosecution criminal cases while Taylor does not. Taylor countered by explaining his vision and desire for making the community safer.
The two are scheduled to meet at least two more times before the November election.
