A boil order was issued Monday for Pottawatomie County Rural Water District Number Four.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory which pertains primarily to residents north of the city of Belvue. Rresidents of Belvue are not affected though.
The order comes after a line break -- which resulted in a loss of pressure in the system -- making it possible for contaminants to enter the system...
While repairs are being done, officials are advising residents to boil water for one minute before drinking or food preparation. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.
Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces for at least one minute in clean tap water containing one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
Also, if your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting it run until it clears.
The order is in effect until water testing shows no further evidence of contamination.
