The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts has issued an emergency suspension of a Topeka doctor's medical license.
The board Monday suspended Pravin Sampat's license citing the reason as "imminent danger to public health and safety".
A complaint filed with the board alleged Sampat was issuing prescriptions for narcotics without a medical cause in exchange for money.
Sampat has had a Kansas license since 1979 and the board says state law allows him to ask for a hearing before an administrative law judge.
Sampat's office is located on Southwest 29th street in Topeka.
