Testimony began Monday morning in Kansas City in the first-degree murder trial of a man charged with the 2001 killing of a little girl known as ``Precious Doe.''
Jackson County prosecutors say 29-year-old Harrell Johnson was high on drugs when he knocked the child to the floor after she refused to go to bed. Johnson and the girl's mother did not seek medical help as the child lay dying for nearly 10 hours.
Prosecutors claim the couple eventually took the girl's body out of the house and that Johnson decapitated her and dumped the body in a wooded area of the city. The child wasn't identified until 2005, four years after her remains were found.
