13 news is on your side with a scam warning. The Better Business Bureau says it targets grandparents by calling and pretending to be their grandchildren.
The "pretend" grandchild says they are traveling to Canada and have been arrested or involved in an auto accident. Then they ask to have money wired to post bail or pay for damages.
The BBB says you should be sure to have callers verify their identity. Also, be sure to contact the person or their family members directly to verify their status. It is believed the scammers are calling random numbers.
If you or someone you know is a victim of this crime report it immediately.
