TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka Police dispatch received a call of a shooting near 3rd and Quinton Avenue at about 1:18 a.m. Thursday. The call initially came in that two people were being transported to a local hospital, including a female in her early 40's. Authorities say as of 2:40 a.m., one of the victims had died.
Police later revealed the dead victim is 40-year-old Natalie Gibson and that the victim recovering from being shot is 41-year-old Lori Allison.
Friends say Gibson was returning home, after celebrating her 40th birthday at Skinny's Bar and Grill in Topeka. Gibson was a Kansas Judicial Center lawyer. Police say they were confronted by a robber, as they pulled into a driveway behind their home.
Shawnee County Appraiser documents reveal they were owners of 307 S.W. Quinton.
Police continue to search for a suspect. He is described as a male, who was wearing a red hoody, with a black cloth over his face.
