Topeka Boosters Upset About Girl Scout Camp

Budget problems may force the Girl Scouts to sell an 80-acre camp west of Topeka. The Girl Scouts of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri decided last week to close the center and shop at Camp Tokavaka.

Spokeswoman Gina Garvin tells the Topeka Capital-Journal the
cutbacks were made to balance its budget. She says a national consultant will review all properties to see which could be sold.

Local troop leader Ann McKinnon says she wants to get the word out in hopes local boosters will step forward to save the camp.
