Management for Cherokee County Casino Questionable

It was a step back before moving forward. That's basically what the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission met to do Tuesday. In a teleconference they rejected Penn National Gaming's application for a state-owned casino in Cherokee County.

They'd actually awarded the contract to Penn, but Penn pulled out, saying it couldn't compete with a casino across the state line in Oklahoma.

Tuesday's action lets the process start all over.

Penn National Gaming is also trying to get back a $25,000,000 privilege fee it paid. A Shawnee County judge could rule on the request this week.
