HOLTON, Kansas - The Kansas Highway Patrol reports one person was killed and four others injured in a car accident early Sunday morning just to the north of Holton in Jackson County.
KHP reports that Colleen Taylor, 43, of Topeka, was driving her 1994 Mazda pickup truck south on US-75 at about 2:00 a.m. Sunday.
A 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck was northbound on US-75 at the same time, driven by Kyle Olberding, 19, of Seneca. KHP reports Taylor's pickup crossed the center line and side-swiped Oldberding's truck on US-75, then hit a trailer being pulled by the Chevy.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Olberding was transported to Holton Community Hospital with severe injuries.
There were three passengers in Olberding's vehicle. Grant Ward, 17, Gregory Olberding, 48, and Kelli Olberding, 43, all of Seneca, were also taken to the hospital with injuries.
KHP does not have information at this time on what caused Taylor's vehicle to cross the center line.
KHP reports that none of the five people involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.
