LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ State Sen. Roger Pine has listed Lawrence
as his hometown and has long voted in Douglas County.
But starting in November, the Republican will be voting in Leavenworth County, where he actually has lived for the past nine years.
The issue of where Pine should vote arose in the Aug. 5 primary. Pine went to his usual Douglas County polling place.
A poll worker knew Pine didn't live in Douglas County. Pine cast a provisional ballot. Later, part of it was thrown out.
The address in Lawrence that the Legislature's directory lists for Pine is the site of his business. Pine says he was confused about the residency requirement.
Regardless, Pine can seek re-election because his home is still in his 3rd Senate District.
