Fire damaged a man's home north of Topeka Monday.

Fire crews saw smoke coming from the home on Northwest 62nd Street when they arrived. Soldier Township Fire Chief Richard Maginot says the fire was mainly in the living room, and it started on the couch.

The house suffered smoke damage throughout. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The man who lives at the house was inside when the fire broke out. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
