Westar Energy crews are heading to Kentucky to help the hurricane relief efforts.

About 44 Westar employees left Monday morning. They will be helping the local utility company restore power after the intense winds from Hurrican Ike's remnants caused outages. More than 160,000 customers were left without power in Kentucky.

Other Westar crews that left for Louisiana on Monday are now helping in Texas.
