KU Whistle to Blow Again

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - The steam whistle will blow again at the University of Kansas.

Earlier this week, university officials stopped the whistle to save money. It's been a tradition for nearly a century, signaling the change of classes each day and heard throughout Lawrence.

Chancellor Robert Hemenway said Friday the whistle will be turned back on as of Monday.

Hemenway said that while finding ways to save money is important, so are traditions like the whistle.
