(Soldier, KS)--Mark and Becky Howerton volunteer for the Soldier Fire Department. They never expected to find themselves fighting to save their own home, but that is what happened last Thursday.
The fire that tore through their home left them with nothing. Even items belonging to the infant they lost in 2001 are gone. Now all they have is the tattoo of the baby on Mark's shoulder.
As volunteer firefighters, the Howertons instinctively knew the damage would be bad...and instinctively went to work fighting the flames.
Thankfully, no one was inside, though the family did lose two cats.
If you'd like to make a donation to help the Howerton family out, you can do so at Denison State Bank.
